Foto: Uwe Schüler (cc) PhishNoise je kompaktni eksperimentalni sintesajzer koji iz jednostavnog elektroničkog sklopa izvlači iznenađujuće bogat i nepredvidiv svijet zvuka. S dva oscilatora, kontrolama frekvencije, blendanjem kanala i CV ulazima omogućuje stvaranje svega od pulsirajućih dronova i ritmičkih pomaka do sirovih, nestabilnih i kaotičnih zvučnih tekstura. Posebnost PhishNoisea je u tome što svaki primjerak ima vlastiti karakter: male razlike među komponentama utječu na ponašanje sklopa, pa dva uređaja nikada ne zvuče potpuno isto. Na radionici ćemo izraditi vlastiti PhishNoise Synth , upoznati osnove njegova rada i istražiti kako jednostavna elektronika može postati vrlo neobičan i živ zvučni instrument. Za sudjelovanje nije potrebno prethodno znanje elektronike. Radionica je intergeneracijska, uključujući djecu od 12 godina na dalje. Njemački medijski umjetnik i haker Ralf Schreiber radi s elektronikom, motorima, mikrofonima i malim zvučnicima. To ga vodi do kinetičkih zvučnih i svjetlosnih instalacija kao i elektronske glazbe. Njegov rad ima razigran i eksperimentalan pristup. Fokusira se na minimalnu robotiku, nasumične procese i samoodržive sustave. Za napajanje često koristi male solarne ćelije kako bi istraživao niskoenergetske procese pretvorbe svjetlosti u kretanje i zvuk. Rezultat njegovih instalacija je minimalan, što znači da su zvukovi vrlo tihi, a pokreti ponekad na rubu percepcije. Osim toga, zalaže se za otvoreni hardver i redovito nudi radionice s konceptima sklopova i nacrtima svojih radova. U centru njegovog dosadašnjeg djelovanja višegodišnji je projekt Žive čestice, autonomna audio-kinetička instalacija u uvijek novoj konstelaciji solarno pogonjenih, interaktivnih mini robot-modula. SegVault bei der European Researchers’ Night 2026

Am 25. September waren wir bei der European Researchers ‘ Night 2026 an der USTP St. Pölten dabei. Unter dem Motto “SPACE ” konnten Besucherinnen und Besucher an verschiedenen Stationen Forschung, Technik und Wissenschaft entdecken. Wir haben dabei einen kleinen Einblick in unseren Hackerspace und die Dinge gegeben, die man dort machen kann. Vom digitalen Modell zum echten Objekt Bei uns standen verschiedene Geräte und Projekte im Mittelpunkt. Mit dabei waren ein Bambu Lab A1 Mini , ein Resin-Drucker und unsere neue CnC-Fräse . Unser 3D-Drucker lief dabei praktisch die ganze Zeit und produzierte kleine Einkaufswagen-Chips mit unserem Segvault-Logo , die Besucher auch mitnehmen konnten. Wir haben gezeigt, was man mit einem 3D-Drucker alles machen kann und wie verschiedene Technologien miteinander kombiniert werden können. Dabei wollten wir vor allem zeigen, dass solche Geräte oft weniger kompliziert sind, als sie auf den ersten Blick wirken. Technik zum Ausprobieren Natürlich durften auch unsere eigenen Projekte nicht fehlen. Ein Highlight war unser 2D-Dungeon-Crawler , der über einen LED-Streifen dargestellt und mit einem Controller gesteuert wird. Besucher konnten selbst ausprobieren, wie sich das Spiel steuern lässt. Außerdem hatten wir verschiedene 3D-gedruckte Objekte und Projekte dabei, die zeigen, was aus der Kombination von 3D-Druck, Elektronik, Programmierung und Lasercutting entstehen kann. Für uns war die Veranstaltung eine schöne Gelegenheit, unseren Hackerspace einmal außerhalb unserer normalen Räumlichkeiten zu zeigen und mit vielen unterschiedlichen Menschen über Technik, Making und eigene Projekte zu sprechen. Danke an die USTP für die Einladung und an alle, die bei unserem Stand vorbeigeschaut und unsere Projekte ausprobiert haben!

C’è un momento preciso in cui ti rendi conto che il mondo, così come lo conosciamo, ha smesso di avere senso. Per alcuni è stato il lancio del primo iPhone, per altri l’avvento dei crypto-bro, ma per chiunque usi il motore di ricerca più famoso del pianeta, quel momento è arrivato di recente, con una dose massiccia di disagio. L’episodio, che sta facendo discutere nelle community più sane di Hacker News, è un concentrato di puro delirio tecnologico. Un utente, cercando una vecchia gag legata a Dario Saric (un giocatore di basket che nel 2014 era il protagonista di un meme sulla sua riluttanza a venire negli USA), si è imbattuto in qualcosa di surreale. Non ha trovato i tweet dell’epoca, né i post di Reddit. Ha trovato un ‘AI Overview’ che, con una sfacciataggine degna di un assistente digitale troppo confidente, ha interpretato la sua query come un grido d’aiuto emotivo. In pratica, l’algoritmo ha deciso che l’utente fosse stato abbandonato da un uomo di nome Dario e che, invece di link utili, avesse bisogno di una sessione di terapia digitale. Sì, avete letto bene. Google, un motore di ricerca che tecnicamente non ha un briciolo di emozione, ha deciso di assumere un ruolo empatico, cercando di fare la ‘amica comprensiva’ invece di fare il suo lavoro: indicizzare il web. È un fenomeno che potremmo definire ‘AI slop’: quel residuo di output generato senza criterio, dove l’hype per i Large Language Models spinge i big tech a sovrapporre strati di allucinazioni e fuffa sopra una struttura che funzionava benissimo. Il problema non è solo che l’AI sbaglia, ma che cerca di riempire un vuoto che non esiste. Non abbiamo bisogno di un chatbot che ci faccia le coccole mentre cerchiamo la documentazione di una libreria Python o un vecchio meme della NBA; abbiamo bisogno di risposte dirette. La cosa assurda è che la risposta che cercava era lì, a pochi pixel di distanza, sotto lo strato di patetismo algoritmico. È come se avessi ordinato una pizza e il rider ti portasse un libro di poesie sulla solitudine, dicendo che ‘capisce il tuo stato d’animo’. Mentre noi in Italia ci preoccupiamo spesso di quanto la privacy venga calpestata dai giganti americani, qui il problema è ancora più profondo: la degradazione dell’utilità. Laser downtime checklist From time to time the laser is unavailable. Either for maintenance or because of an issue. When this happens, this is a checklist of the things we need to do. If we don't do these steps, people may come a long way to VHS to use the laser, and be unable to use it. That is a bummer. The laser is volunteer run, and there are no guarantees of usability - but if we can clearly communicate what's happening that goes a long way to being excellent to each other!

3D Printing at VHS VHS has a number of 3D printers, both filament and resin based. See the tools page for the current list of printers. Resin printers live in the paint and mess room, while filament printers live along the east wall next to the main table.
