3D Printing/Notes
Meeting notes from July 31 3D Printing Guild (chair0) ← Older revision Revision as of 19:01, 3 August 2026 Line 1: Line 1: {{3dprinting}} {{3dprinting}} ==2026== ===July 31=== The main topics were how to keep the printers working and cleaning up the 3d printing room: Keeping the printers working goal: we want to spend more time printing / less time fixing Solution: The non-H2D printers (ie, the P1S and X1C) can used for the simple filaments (PLA/PETG specifically) -> less likely to break and always available The more complicated prints (TPU, CF, etc) should go the H2D and that requires either training or some proof that previous experience with that material. we are thinking if you can print your name tag with the material or technique then that could be enough We want to guide newbies towards the P1S and X1Cs, leaving the H2D (and other printers) as ones for people who are more experienced and/or who are willing to get training if someone does want to use those machines for something that isn't newbie-friendly (e.g.: loading filament externally), then the person in question should make sure they can return it to a newbie-friendly configuration once it's done. this means that unattended prints of this sort should go on the H2D (as you mention) We would like to restart 3d printing classes again (tbd when) Cleaning there are a bunch of orphan prints from a long time ago, to prevent these from accumulating we would like to begin a simple name tag system so we can figure out who orphan prints belong to more easily also the plan is the move the resin printers out of the 3d printing room (tbd where) there is also the shelf with all the office supplies -> that can also be moved out to where the other office supplies are there are a bunch of empty spools, we should remove some of those Upcoming Actions: create a rules/guidelines sheet and hang on each printer, indicating what type of prints can be used on each set a regular meeting time to discuss 3d printing - we are thinking weekly this time - Friday 7pm ==2025== ==2025==
