Start creating beautiful interactive, and immersive generative media by learning the underlying logic and workflows of the program.TouchDesigner is a real time generative graphics application that can be used for anything from generating graphics using dynamic noise data in real-time to audio-responsive 3D geometry. We’ll go through multiple examples of how to start creating beautiful generative content in TouchDesigner. Interactive, immersive, generative media is the reason you’re investing in learning TouchDesigner, and this class helps you get started creating it right away!
In the class we will discuss the fundamentals of the TouchDesigner. If you have never used a node-based programming environment before, this class is for you. I walk you through the basics of TouchDesigner logic and workflows, explaining exactly what nodes and wires are and how they work. This includes a walk through of the basic settings and preferences you can leverage in TouchDesigner that set you up for success and make your life easier.
We will learn about all six of the operator families used by TouchDesigner, and how they integrate with the TouchDesigner workflow. I’ll walk you through an example project for each of them.

Woody Poulard (aka GRNCH) is a Brooklyn-based artist/musician whose work focuses on generative audio-reactive visual installations and performances. He uses creative coding applications like TouchDesigner to generate real-time visuals, Blender for 3D design, and Ableton for music production. Trained in both audio and mechanical engineering, Woody also makes physical sculptures using digital fabrication techniques like 3D printing, laser cutting, and CNC routing. GRNCH’s visuals use elements of abstract, futuristic, and hypnotic scenery, often paired with his signature sound: dark, cinematic, suspenseful techno and broken beat.

Kulturnacht 2024
Auch dieses Jahr ist das temporärhaus Teil der Kulturnacht Ulm 2024. Zusammen mit dem Haus der Nachhaltigkeit öffnen wir von 15:00-01:30 unsere Türen.
Nachmittags gibts Jugendprogramm des Jugend hackt Lab, bei dem Kinder und Jugendliche ab 6 Jahren erste Erfahrungen mit Lötbausätzen, Druckkunst oder der Stickmaschine machen können.
Ab 17:00 Uhr startet das Hauptprogramm. Als lokaler Raum von Wikimedia Deutschland bieten wir mit dem Wikidata Guessr Spaß und geografisches Rätseln mit offenen Daten an. Zusätzlich stellen wir vor, wie mittels moderner Technik Kunst geschaffen wird. So bietet Sabine bleeptrack Wieluch mit Pattern Portrait die Möglichkeit, ein Selbstportrait mittels KI als Strichzeichnung von einem Roboter zeichnen zu lassen. Weitere Highlights: ASCII-Art-Animation mit der Möglichkeit diese aktiv mitzugestalten, Retro-Photographie mit Gameboy-Kameras sowie Pflanzendruck.
Und wie immer sind auch unsere Werkstätten geöffnet, so dass ihr auch hier die Gelegenheit habt, mal rein zu schnuppern.

Let's make soft speakers! Learn how to craft a speaker out of fabric, conductive thread or fabric, a magnet, and an amp.We often think of fabrics as felt and seen--not heard. But in this workshop, we are going to make some noisy textiles! You will learn how to craft a speaker out of fabric, conductive thread or fabric, a magnet, and an amp. We will discuss how materiality impacts sound, consider different options for audio signal generation, and explore the affordances of these soft interfaces.
This is a beginner workshop. Participants do not need any prior knowledge to join, though basic knowledge of sewing will be useful. They will be provided with their own mono amp tester, magnets, fabric, and conductive thread starter kit as part of the workshop fee.

Hi! I’m Liza. I’m an transdisciplinary designer, artist, and educator based in NYC. My creative practice combines traditional textiles and conductive fabrics with circuits and code to produce unexpected interactions at a human scale. In recent years, I have been exploring textiles speakers as carrier bags for memory and boundless containers for awe and joy through an ongoing series of interactive sonic quilts.
