November / December 2021 wrap-up

Let there be chairs and light – Spark Solar Trailer

Trailer update – New 12v solar charge controller feeding two 105Ah batteries, 3000w pure-sine inverter, tested with 7A power saw (dimmed light). Prompted discussion about how to partition power for more sensitive electronics. Have free 2nd 1500w modified-sine inverter that should be temporary solution (want pure sine for everything). Also added a remote switch at trailer doorway to turn inverter on/off.

We’re on the Asda Pillgwenlly Green Token Scheme!

We are part of the current Green Token Scheme for the local Asda supermarket in Pillgwenlly. If we are successful in securing enough votes then we will receive a £500 microgrant. 

We would like to use funds to cover materials for two resident makers – this would mean bringing in two new individuals and setting them loose on the makerspace facilities, with a budget, to explore creative ideas.

Hackerspace schließt bis Mitte Januar

Im Zuge der Pandemie des Coronavirus und der aktuellen Lage wird der Hackerspace ab heute, bis zum 31. Januar 2022 vorläufig geschlossen. Ziel ist es eventuelle Ansteckungen zu verhindern und eine weitere Verbreitung des Virus zu verlangsamen.

Der Hackerspace ist bis Ende Januar geschlossen

Die entsprechenden well-staffed-Treffen und andere Aktivitäten des Hackerspaces fallen damit aus. Eine kleine Alternative ist der Discord-Channel des Vereins.

First Open Day

Our first open day is this coming Saturday 20th November. The doors will be open from 11am to 3pm so please come along and see for yourself the result of all our hard work. We hope to make open days a regular occurrence to make as many people aware of the Newport Makerspace / Creudy Casnewydd facilities and to encourage them to learn new skills.
