We’ve added a second laser to our arsenal. It comes with unique capabilities like metal etching and live previewing of the your design. Because it’s a galvo laser (rotating mirrors instead of a belt-driven gantry) it’s super fast. Would we go as far as calling it “laser fast”? Oops, I guess we just did. Paired with the new machine is new software – the machine runs on LightBurn, a nice upgrade from our prior software.

We are in discussions with our landlord hashing out the details about selling the building (to us) at the end of our lease in 18 months, so we need to get on the ball to raise the funds to make it happen! It’s been a while since our last post, since then we’ve been busy behind the scenes, making improvements, adding new tools, and continuing to build our community. Here’s a glimpse into what we’ve been up to:

Our space has received some upgrades! We’ve been cleaning, painting, and reorganizing to make room for more making capabilities. Flexibility is key, and we’re excited about the new possibilities that our newly updated space offers.

We’ve expanded…

Time sure does fly. Members new and old came together to celebrate Hive76 being around for 15 years. In that time, we’ve had three different locations, hundreds of members, and a wide array of different projects. We’ve evolved and grown, adding new tools and expanded skillsets. We still don’t have a great answer for whether we’re a hackerspace or makerspace. (both?) Check back in another 15 years.

Het is alweer een tijd geleden dat we iets te melden hadden . De zomervakantie is voorbij, jeugdleden en begeleiders die niet op vakantie zijn geweest hebben verder gewerkt aan hun eigen projecten en alles verliep rustig. Maar achter de schermen is het bestuur aan de gang gegaan met het organiseren van een heus jubileumfeest!

Hackerspace TDvenlo bestaat namelijk 60 jaar!!

Summerhall, the arts complex where the Hacklab is based, has been put up for sale. We became aware that the public may only know Summerhall as an events venue, and not realise how many artists and businesses have studios and workshops here. For that reason, residents at Summerhall are offering tours to show some of what happens here.
