Wednesday evenings are our regular meet up.
This week out members were fixing a Coffee Machine to add it to the MakerSpace:
We also did some laser cutting:

Friday and the weekend also saw the creation of a new mezzanine area in the space, something that’s easy to say, but a lot more work to build.

The area under the mezzanine is going to be our workshop area for woodworking and similar activities. As you can see there’s a significant amount of work still to do on the space.

Farnborough has played an important role in the history of both aviation and our makerspace. Last weekend it was also host to a unique musical event.
The Modular Café Aldershot (MODCAF) a local community of modular synth enthusiasts organised a one of a kind musical event called TEST CHAMBER LIVE in Q121, a historic wind tunnel building.

Our weekly members’ evenings continued with another varied range of projects, here’s some highlights from this week:
A nice four slice toaster in need of repair
Matt, one of our director’s brought in a toaster that wouldn’t heat up. The label on the toaster happily announced that it was made in the UK by Michael and designed to be repaired.

If you’ve ever wondered what goes on at a typical members’ evening at the Surrey & Hampshire Makerspace then the answer is I don’t think there is a typical evening.
At our most recent weekly members’ evening one member was in the early stages of hand making a pair of shoes

Our previous workshop at The Boileroom, Guildford has now closed. We are in the process of building a new workshop at TS Swiftsure, Badshot lea, Farnham.

It’s been cold, lets help the birds. They enjoy fruits and berries.
Come along to the Makerspace in Guildford and make a geometric structure onto which Sultanas, Raisins, berries etc can be skewered. This feeder can then be attached to a window, drainpipe or other external fixture.
We shall be working with bamboo and natural rubber bands to make a bird feeder with a low environmental impact. This process of making requires only your fingers to build a stable construction using minimal…

We are exhibiting at New House Art Space in central Guildford. Opening on February 4th at 7pm until 6th March. On display are a range of works by our Members, both artists and makers, and our group projects. Over the weekends we aim to be at New House to answer questions.
