Membership At VHS all members start with limited access privileges and can obtain 24/7 access by applying for keyholder status after a 1 month probationary period. This is to ensure trustworthiness and that a level of responsibility can be expected. We like to get to know you before we give you keys to the place!

Electronics at VHS Soldering irons are on a timer on the wall, so they can't be left on. Please don't hack on CRTs (Cathode Ray Tubes, i.e. old TVs and computer monitors) at VHS. They are dangerous to hack on, and annoying to dispose of. Tools we have are listed on the

Deleting Wiki Pages Principles * It's okay for the deletion process to be slow in cases of uncertainty, as long as it's not so slow that it stops people from trying to delete things at all. * It's easy to restore deleted pages, so mistaken deletes are okay as long as they're noticeable.

Formatting Syntax DokuWiki supports some simple markup languages, which tries to make the datafiles to be as readable as possible. There are two supported formats: * github flavoured markdown. * dokuwiki syntax, which is described below on this page. You can mix both, of these, and dokuwiki will parse it as best as it can. For this wiki, we prefer markdown, but much of the content is still in dokuwiki syntax from before markdown was supported.
Laser downtime checklist From time to time the laser is unavailable. Either for maintenance or because of an issue. When this happens, this is a checklist of the things we need to do. If we don't do these steps, people may come a long way to VHS to use the laser, and be unable to use it. That is a bummer. The laser is volunteer run, and there are no guarantees of usability - but if we can clearly communicate what's happening that goes a long way to being excellent to each other!
3D Printing at VHS VHS has a number of 3D printers, both filament and resin based. See the tools page for the current list of printers. Resin printers live in the paint and mess room, while filament printers live along the east wall next to the main table.
A guide to VHS' physical space groups Our Building This is our building! It's short in the front, long in the back. A great mullet for happy hackers! Currently this is the sixth iteration of Vancouver Hack Space, and one of the largest we've been able to inhabit so far. We're truly excited for all the great projects we can get started on now that we have this building.
