Digitaler Unabhängigkeitstag im Oktober: Abflug von Twitter - Auf zu Mastodon & Bonusveranstaltung zu Linux

Dieses Mal erwarten Euch sogar gleich zwei Veranstaltungen hintereinander. Kommt zu einer oder beiden, während ihr für den Verkaufsoffenen Sonntag vielleicht sowieso schon in der Stadt seid. Alle Infos im vollständigen Blogpost. Warum Linux? Eine Einführung für Neugierige (13:30 Uhr) Windows-Updates, die nerven. Datensammelei, die stört. Lizenzkosten, die sich summieren. Viele Menschen denken über einen Wechsel zu Linux nach – trauen sich aber nicht so recht heran, weil sie es für kompliziert oder nur etwas für Technik-Profis halten. Diese Einführungsveranstaltung räumt mit genau diesen Vorurteilen auf. Wir erklären in verständlicher Sprache, was Linux eigentlich ist, woher es kommt und warum es gerade jetzt – am Digitalen Unabhängigkeitstag – für immer mehr Privatanwender:innen eine echte Alternative wird. Im Mittelpunkt stehen die Vorteile eines Umstiegs: mehr Kontrolle über die eigenen Daten, keine Zwangs-Updates, oft neues Leben für ältere Rechner und eine große, hilfsbereite Community. Genauso ehrlich sprechen wir aber auch über den realistischen Arbeitsaufwand, mögliche Stolperfallen und wofür Linux (noch) nicht die beste Lösung ist. Wichtig: Dies ist kein Hands-on-Workshop zum Umstieg selbst, sondern eine fundierte, aber leicht verständliche Orientierungsveranstaltung – der ideale erste Schritt, bevor man sich für den nächsten entscheidet. Abflug von Twitter - Auf zu Mastodon (15:00 Uhr) Mit dem Kauf von Twitter durch den reichsten Mann der Welt, Elon Musk, hatte sich einiges mehr als nur der Name auf der Platform geändert: Weniger Moderation und somit mehr Hate-Speech auf der einen Seite . Andererseits nahm sich der neue Inhaber gerne heraus, Accounts von Kritikern, inklusive Journalisten, zu sperren , Accounts von Rechtsradikalen zu entsperren und seine eigenen Posts bevorzugt in die Timelines zu spülen . Doch was tun, wenn man dem etwas entgegensetzen möchte - zur nächsten Tech-Bro Platform weiterziehen? Oder gleich Social Media ganz den Rücken kehren? Es gibt noch eine weitere Möglichkeit: Beim Digitalen Unabhängigkeitstag des Chaotikum e.V. im Oktober stellen wir euch die OpenSource Alternative Mastodon vor: Ein soziales, nicht-kommerzielles, werbefreies Netz und Kurznachrichtendienst, das nach Elon Musks Twitter-Übernahme rasanten Zuwachs bekommen hat. Und das dank dezentraler, förderierter Architektur nicht so einfach von Milliardären aufgekauft und umgekrempelt werden kann. Warum das so ist, könnt ihr in unserem Vortrag am Sonntag, den 4. Oktober 2026 um 15 Uhr beim Digital Learning Campus im Haerder Center erfahren. Auch werden wir praxisnah in die Nutzung von Mastodon einführen, Unterschiede zu z.B. Twitter/X erläutern und stehen euch für alle Fragen zu Mastodon Rede und Antwort. New toy! An industrial embroidery machine!

If you’ve been in the space recently, you might have see our newest toy tool, a 12 colour, industrial, embroidery machine! Many of our members are very excited about it, so we started showing members how to use it and will be opening it up to a wider audience in the coming weeks with workshops on how to design for embroidery machines. The machine is a secondhand ZSK Sprint 5, made in Germany in 2012. It’s passed through a few hands before coming to us, but it’s in great condition, and we’re going to get many years of use out of it yet! It’s able to embroider areas up to 30 by 30 cm and can automatically change colours and cut the threads. We also have a cap attachment for it, but let’s start with flatter surfaces first. As it’s a 90 kg beast, one of our members built a table to handle the weight. We’ve put the machine in the small room with the laser cutter as it’s quite noisy, but it tends to move a lot, so we couldn’t put it upstairs by the 3D printers or they’d be very sad. Of course, as a hackerspace, we’re not out buying the manufacturer’s closed software but we are delighted to be able to use a variety of open source software with it. The machine takes .dst files, which are an industry standard supported by many open source tools. The main workhorse software is Inkscape with the plugin Ink/Stitch . It has a bit of a learning curve, but it’s extremely flexible. There’s also the option to use PEmbroider with Processing , and we can’t forget TurtleStitch for those interested in machine embroidery as an educational tool as well as for art. Expect some design workshops to pop up over the coming months! If you simply want to gaze at its majesty, drop in on any of our open evenings . On craft night, you’re most likely to find the machine embroidery nerds, so pack a craft project and stick around after getting to know our newest toy and its biggest fans.

Creiamo una mappa con Net Radiant per Urban Terror – edizione 2026

Torna il breve ciclo di incontri gratuiti per imparare a creare una mappa con Net Radiant per il classico videogame Urban Terror . Se hai più di 14 anni e sai usare un computer, compila il modulo per riservare un posto. Il primo incontro introduttivo si terrà il 3 Ottobre 2026, al Museo CAOS, dalle 16 alle 19, nella sede di HackLab Terni APS (chiedere all’ingresso del Museo). Nel primo incontro vi verranno date tutte le informazioni per i laboratori seguenti, che saranno sempre gratuiti e si terranno nella stessa sede. PERCHE’ URBAN TERROR? Perché gira su tutto, è gratuito e leggerissimo, quindi potete portare qualsiasi scassone abbiate a disposizione, sennò ve ne diamo uno noi. Basta che sappiate usarlo! Inoltre le stesse funzionalità si ritrovano anche in altri motori di videogame . CHE FAREMO? Vedremo come si creano gli ambienti, le texture, gli oggetti, la skybox… Inoltre vedremo anche come si installa un server ed infine giocheremo con le mappe create durante gli incontri. Primo incontro introduttivo , poi si passa all’azione!

Assemblea pubblica contro le sanzioni ad Autistici/Inventati

Il 26 Agosto, il segretario di stato USA Marco Rubio accusa il collettivo Autistici/Inventati di fornire infrastruttura a gruppi "terroristi", e lo inserisce nelle liste OFAC. Dieci giorni dopo, il collettivo annuncia la sua chiusura. La portata di questa mossa è enorme, e non si limita ad essere un attacco all'Internet aperta e alla libertà di informazione. Data la completa arbitrarietà della designazione di terrorista, nel mirino potrebbe finire chiunque: il meccanismo delle sanzioni - raro in Italia, usatissimo fuori dall'occidente - è quintessenzialmente capitalista: non ha bisogno di condanne penali per impedire il dissenso. Per fare sì che questo dissenso continui a vivere senza essere relegato alla clandestinità o all'irrilevanza, è necessario contrastare concretamente le sanzioni. A livello nazionale, sta partendo la campagna "Nel Mirino", che desidera anzitutto ottenere il mantenimento del conto corrente presso Banca Etica di A/I e l'apertura di quello di Francesca Albanese. Queste esperienze dimostrano che negare la possibilità di accedere al sistema bancario rende difficile, se non impossibile, il proseguimento di ogni attività. Pensiamo che su questo si debba e si possa muovere una mobilitazione larga e trasversale, dato che il meccanismo OFAC è una spada di Damocle che pende su ogni genere di realtà conflittuale. Per questo, la campagna "Nel Mirino" ha indicato la data del 25 Settembre — data simbolica perché è il termine ultimo per l'entrata in vigore delle sanzioni contro A/I — come giornata di mobilitazione territoriale in tutta Italia. L'obiettivo di questa giornata sarà in primo luogo quello di continuare la pressione su Banca Etica: se, come afferma nel suo comunicato, le sanzioni sono ingiuste, allora non deve rendersene complice. Pretendiamo passi concreti. Per questo, come AvANa - Avvisi ai naviganti, indiciamo un' assemblea pubblica al CSOA Forte Prenestino per Mercoledì 16 Settembre alle 19 , in cui approfondire i temi e gli obiettivi della campagna e decidere collettivamente come declinare la giornata di mobilitazione qui a Roma.
