RADIONICA JE POPUNJENA! Radionica FM sinteze: Od kultnih zvukova 80-ih do ozbiljnog dizajna zvuka pod vodstvom Saše Rajkovića Zarkoffa održat će se u utorak i srijedu, 17. i 18. ožujka 2026. od 18.00 do 21.00h u Radioni. (For English please scroll down) FM sinteza često ima reputaciju jedne od najkompleksnijih metoda sinteze zvuka. Na ovoj radionici pokušat ćemo je učiniti razumljivijom i pristupačnijom kroz praktičan rad, objašnjenje osnovnih principa i demonstraciju na legendarnim hardverskim FM sintisajzerima. FM sinteza – teško je reći što je strašnije: teorija, programiranje patcheva preko malog ekrančića ili prepoznatljivi zvukovi osamdesetih. Pa ipak, FM sinteza i danas ima važno mjesto u sound designu i glazbenoj produkciji. Kroz radionicu ćemo osnovne principe i funkcije približiti intuiciji te pokazati suvremena pomoćna sredstva koja znatno olakšavaju rad. Objasnit ćemo što su operatori, što su algoritmi i kako čitati njihove dijagrame. Pogledat ćemo kako se envelope može koristiti na kreativan način, kako dobiti harmonične, a kako disharmonične zvukove – i još poneki trik iz FM arsenala. Da stvari ne bi bile prejednostavne, dotaknut ćemo se i srodne Phase Distortion sinteze. Radit ćemo na legendarnim vintage sintisajzerima Yamaha SY77 (dva DX7 + dva romplera u jednom kućištu), Yamaha TX81Z s hardverskim eksternim programatorom te Casio CZ-101 , a polaznike potičemo da ponesu i svoje FM instrumente ako žele eksperimentirati s vlastitim setupom. FM synthesis often has the reputation of being one of the most complex sound synthesis methods. In this workshop, we will try to make it more understandable and accessible through practical work, explanation of basic principles and demonstration on legendary hardware FM synthesizers. FM synthesis – it’s hard to say what’s scarier: the theory, programming patches via a small screen or the recognizable sounds of the eighties. And yet, FM synthesis still has an important place in sound design and music production today. Through the workshop, we will bring basic principles and functions closer to intuition and show modern aids that make work much easier. We will explain what operators are, what algorithms are and how to read their diagrams. We will look at how the envelope can be used in a creative way, how to get harmonic and disharmonic sounds – and a few more tricks from the FM arsenal. In order not to make things too simple, we will also touch on the related Phase Distortion synthesis. We will work on the legendary vintage synthesizers Yamaha SY77 (two DX7 + two rompers in one case), Yamaha TX81Z with hardware external programmer and Casio CZ-101, and we encourage participants to bring their own FM instruments if they want to experiment with their own setup. About the host: Saša Rajković – Zarkoff is a musician and sound engineer with considerable experience in the electronic and indie scene.
