Help Us Build the Next 10 Years of the Claremont MakerSpace

🇺🇸 · Claremont Makerspace · Steve Goldsmith

This summer will mark ten years since the Claremont MakerSpace found its home, and we need your input to help shape our next ten years. Skip the great story below (if you must) and Fill out our 10 Year Strategic Planning Survey Now Three days at the New York World Maker Faire in 2010 was all it took to plant the seed. We came home inspired and couldn’t shake the feeling that we needed to build a community in our neck of the woods like what we experienced there. Over the next three years we kept going back, attending more New York World Maker Faires, making the trip out to the Bay Area Maker Faire, and attending other smaller regional Maker Faires. Each time we came home more convinced that we had to find a way to build a MakerSpace here. In 2013, we took the first step. We started a Meetup Group and booked a restaurant for our first gathering. Way more people showed up than we expected. It was clear that there was a real hunger for a MakerSpace in our little part of the world. It took nearly three years to find our home at the historic Sawtooth Building in the heart of downtown Claremont, NH, which we purchased from the City and began transforming into the Claremont MakerSpace. We opened our doors in 2018, and ten years later the Claremont MakerSpace stands as a hub for the creative community throughout the Connecticut River Valley. None of this would have been possible without support and encouragement from this amazing community. As we start our journey into our second decade, we want to hear from you. We want to know what you feel is working well in our workshops, tools, classes, programs, and events. What would you like to see more of? And where can we do better? Your answers will directly shape how we support creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship in Claremont and the greater Upper Valley for the next ten years. The survey takes about 15 minutes – grab a cup of coffee, settle in and click below to share your thoughts and help us better serve the community. ☞ Please Fill out our 10 Year Strategic Planning Survey Now ☜ Thanks for taking the time; we very much appreciate it. /steve & michelle, 66.6% of the founders of this thing which we call TwinState MakerSpaces, Inc. a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation that is the parent company of The Claremont MakerSpace.

San Antonio Startup Day Is Back And This Time, Red Bull Is Fueling the Fire

🇺🇸 · Geekdom · nickh@geekdom.com

Some ideas sit in your notes app for months. Some get launched from a coworking space on a Wednesday in March. On March 18 , San Antonio Startup Day returns to Geekdom and LaunchSA for a full day of community, resources, and expert-led programming designed to move you from “I’ve been thinking about this” to “I’m actually doing this.” This month’s event comes with something extra: a partnership with Red Bull and a deadline that should be on every founder’s radar. More on that in a moment. What Is San Antonio Startup Day? If you’ve never been, here’s the short version: San Antonio Startup Day (SASD) is a free, monthly event that turns downtown SA into a one-day launchpad for entrepreneurs, builders, freelancers, and anyone who’s been sitting on an idea a little too long. No pitch competitions with steep stakes. No pay-to-play panels. Just a full day of open coworking at Geekdom and LaunchSA, structured programming with people who have actually built things in this city, and the kind of casual hallway conversations that tend to change directions. It’s for the founder who just incorporated last month and the one who’s been thinking about incorporating for two years. If you’re anywhere in the San Antonio startup community , this day was made for you. Red Bull Basement 2026: Apply Before the Wings Close Here’s why this particular SASD matters more than most: the Red Bull Basement 2026 application closes March 29 , just 11 days after the event. Red Bull Basement is a global idea competition that gives innovators the tools, mentorship, and platform to turn a concept into something real. Powered by Red Bull, Microsoft, and AMD, the 2026 program equips applicants with AI tools to develop and pitch their ideas through a structured national competition. The top three U.S. finalists earn a trip to Silicon Valley to compete for the World Final grand prize of $100,000 and more . The process works like this: submit your idea using Red Bull’s AI mentoring tools → 65 applicants get selected to record a 1-minute video pitch → 15 national finalists pitch live → top 3 advance to the World Final in San Francisco. It’s open to any U.S. resident 18 and older. You don’t need a polished deck or a registered LLC. You need an idea worth fighting for. SASD on March 18 is your chance to stress-test that idea in a room full of people who get it and then go home and apply before March 29. That’s the window. Use it. Apply for Red Bull Basement 2026 here: https://www.redbull.com/us-en/events/red-bull-basement-usa-2026/ What You’ll Actually Do at SASD March 18 The day kicks off at 9 AM at LaunchSA (Central Library, 600 Soledad St, 1st Floor) with the SASD Kickoff and 1 Million Cups a nationally recognized entrepreneur networking format that happens in cities across the country. The format is simple and effective: show up, hear from founders working through real business challenges, and connect with the people in the room. It’s low-stakes, high-value, and the kind of thing you’ll wish you’d been coming to for years. From 10 AM to 1 PM , head over to Geekdom (110 E Houston St, 3rd Floor) for the Vibe Coding Cafe a co-working session for builders, developers, and the curious. Bring what you’re working on, share what you want to build, and find your people. Expect strong coffee, lo-fi beats, and actual momentum. If you’ve been meaning to explore AI-powered development tools and just haven’t had the right environment to dig in, this is it. Running simultaneously from 11 AM to 1 PM , the Small Business Resource Fair at LaunchSA connects entrepreneurs with the organizations, programs, and services that exist to help SA businesses grow. Whether you’re looking for funding resources, legal guidance, or your next mentor, the fair is worth a walk-through. More sessions are being added. Check the full schedule on Eventbrite as the day gets closer. Show Up. Fuel Up. Take Off. There’s a reason Red Bull found a home in San Antonio’s startup ecosystem . This city has the builders, the ideas, and the hunger. What it sometimes lacks is the moment the right room, on the right day, with the right deadline looming that finally turns an idea into action. March 18 is that moment. Come for the community. Stay for the conversations. Leave with a Red Bull Basement application in your drafts and a plan for what comes next. Geekdom is a coworking space and startup community in the heart of downtown San Antonio, powering the people building the city’s next chapter.
