Zaterdag 28 maart Internationale Open Hackerspace Dag 2026

Open Dag Sinds 2012 is er ieder jaar open dag voor hackerspaces, eerst alleen in Nederlands en de laatste paar jaar ook internationaal. De open dag is altijd de laatste zaterdag van maart, voor 2026 zal dit 28 maart zijn. Internationale Open Hackerspace Dag 2026 Zaterdag 28 maart houden diverse hackerspaces in Nederland een open huis. Hackerspaces zijn locaties waar mensen met een technische, creatieve en nieuwsgierige mindset bijeenkomen. Ze komen daar om te werken aan projecten, elkaar te ontmoeten en te praten over onderwerpen die hen interesseren. Tijdens de open dag is het mogelijk om zelf te ontdekken wat hacken inhoudt en te zien wat er allemaal mogelijk is in een hackerspace. Tipje van de sluier? Iemands verbeeldingskracht is de meest beperkende factor! Iedereen is welkom om een kijkje te komen nemen tijdens deze jaarlijks terugkerende open dag. Iedere hackerspace heeft zijn eigen programma, sommige hackerspaces blijven ‘s avonds geopend. Per hackerspace zijn verschillende presentaties te zien van de individuele projecten die in die hackerspace worden uitgevoerd. Enkele voorbeelden van activiteiten zijn: Verschillende presentaties van de individuele projecten die in die hackerspace worden uitgevoerd. Leren ontwerpen met TinkerCad en Blender voor 3D-printers. Leren ontwerpen voor lasersnijders met Inkscape. Zelf 3D-printen, cnc-frezen, lasersnijden of solderen. Een introductie tot Linux, Arduino (C++) of Raspberry Pi. Hackers vinden ethiek belangrijk, daarom wordt er binnen de hackerspaces gesproken over hoe hackers proberen de wereld te verbeteren door kritisch en fris naar de maatschappij, techniek en organisaties te kijken en kennis te delen. Daarnaast zijn hackerspaces plekken waar mensen komen die mooie, grappige en creatieve dingen maken. Een plek onder gelijkgestemde waar ze welkom zijn en waar zij een gemeenschappelijke ruimte, gereedschappen en informatie kunnen delen. Een plek die inspiratie geeft. Aanmelden voor de open dag is bij de meeste spaces niet nodig. Het wordt wel op prijs gesteld als pers zich vooraf meldt en de privacy van de aanwezigen respecteert. Arnhemse hackers: “Dit gaat helemaal verkeerd zonder ons.” Je gegevens komen regelmatig in het nieuws door datalekken. Contant geld wordt op steeds minder plekken gebruikt. En online diensten verzamelen meer informatie dan veel mensen zich realiseren. Dat roept bij veel mensen vragen op. Hoe werken die systemen eigenlijk? En wat kun je er zelf over weten of doen? Bij Hack42 in Arnhem draait het om precies dat soort nieuwsgierigheid. Hack42 is een hackerspace waar mensen samenkomen om technologie te verkennen, ermee te experimenteren en van elkaar te leren. Door zelf dingen te bouwen, uit elkaar te halen en te onderzoeken, krijgen bezoekers en deelnemers beter inzicht in de techniek die ze dagelijks gebruiken. Dat helpt om bewuster en zekerder met technologie om te gaan. In de ruimte in Arnhem wordt gesoldeerd, geprogrammeerd, gerepareerd en gebouwd. Maar het gaat niet alleen om techniek. Ook kunst, creatieve projecten, ontwerpen en experimenteren met ideeën krijgen hier volop ruimte. Mensen met allerlei achtergronden lopen binnen om iets te maken, te proberen of samen te werken. Deelnemers helpen elkaar, delen kennis en werken aan eigen projecten. Nieuwsgierigheid staat centraal. Je hoeft geen expert te zijn om binnen te lopen. Juist in een tijd waarin bijna alles digitaal en op afstand gebeurt, is het waardevol om elkaar fysiek te ontmoeten. Gewoon aan tafel, met gereedschap, Club-Mate, en goede gesprekken. Tijdens de open dag kunnen bezoekers de werkplaats bekijken, projecten zien , en kennismaken met de community. Nieuwsgierig? Kom langs. Stel vragen. Doe mee. Ga jezelf hacker noemen. 2026/03/09 – Cutting the Cord: A DIY Wireless HDMI Display Takes Shape at House4Hack

As the Tuesday evening gathering at House4Hack came to life once again, the focus of the night was drawn to an ambitious and highly practical build: a fully self-contained wireless HDMI display, capable of receiving a signal from any device equipped with an HDMI output — entirely without cables. The project represents the kind of problem-solving that has long been celebrated within the walls of the House. The goal was straightforward in concept, yet demanding in execution: to construct a portable display unit that could receive a wireless HDMI signal, housing all necessary components — including power delivery — within a clean, self-contained enclosure. Initial prototype of display case Work on the enclosure began with an initial prototype, as the team explored how best to accommodate the various components within a compact and practical form factor. As is often the case with projects undertaken at House4Hack, the first iteration served primarily as a learning exercise, revealing the constraints and opportunities that would inform subsequent designs. Second iteration A second iteration of the display case was produced, incorporating the lessons drawn from the prototype. Refinements were made to the internal geometry of the enclosure, ensuring that the arrangement of components could be achieved without unnecessary bulk or compromise to the structural integrity of the build. Testing the layout of components , powerbank , usb decoy and smps Careful attention was given to the layout of the internal components. The power bank, USB power delivery decoy trigger, and switch-mode power supply (SMPS) were arranged and tested for fit before any permanent fixing was undertaken. This stage of the process highlighted the importance of planning component placement with precision, particularly given the constrained internal volume of the enclosure. Bevel done powebank double side taped in With the bevelling of the enclosure completed, the power bank was secured in place using double-sided tape — a tidy and effective solution that kept the internal assembly clean and serviceable. The build was steadily taking on its final form. Finished display , testing latency With the display assembled, attention turned to one of the most critical performance metrics for any wireless video system: latency. The finished unit was subjected to testing, and the results were observed with considerable interest by those gathered around the workbench. A wireless HDMI solution is only as useful as its ability to deliver a signal with minimal delay, and the testing phase provided valuable data on the responsiveness of the system under real-world conditions. The result was a tidy, functional, and impressively self-contained device — a testament to the methodical approach taken throughout the project. It is worth noting that the spirit of iteration and refinement on display during this evening’s session echoes the work of many regulars at House4Hack. Much like the incremental improvements seen in Philip’s Raspberry Pi hat work back in 2023, or the careful casting and moulding experiments undertaken by Graham and Password2 over the years, progress at the House is rarely achieved in a single leap — it is earned through deliberate, hands-on experimentation. The wireless HDMI display project stands as a fine example of what can be accomplished when a practical need is met with creativity, patience, and the collective energy of a makerspace community. Members and visitors with an interest in wireless video systems, embedded power solutions, or enclosure design are encouraged to come along on a Tuesday evening to see the build in person and engage with the work firsthand.
