MARCH GALLERY OPENINGS!
I AS220 GALLERIES | MARCH 7-28th, 2026 Exhibition opens Saturday March 7th 5-7pm. Aborn Gallery | 95 Empire St. fl. 2 / group exhibition on climate change Unearthly EarthThings Unearthly Earth Things is an exhibition bringing together the work of Rhode Island artists who capture the emotional complexity of changing ecosystems. We are often faced with varying degrees of agency when faced with existential or environmental change, showcasing how the role of an individual may oscillate involuntarily from passive observer to complicit participant to dissenting heretic, depending on who or what is being lost. This collection is a call for us to imagine rituals that honor the loss of beloved relationships found in nature. How can artistic practices embalm natural forms through various media that help us reflect on cycles of life and death? The Surfacer gathers projects from across Ian's craft and art practices that have to do with achieving a beautiful surface. Compulsive completion, deep assortments, and invisible labor come to the foreground in the intersection of small boat repairs, intricate patchwork quilts, and silkscreen prints on paper & fabric. Ian Cozzens, Seeker's tiller (1969, refinished 2021-2025 &ongoing) on the red/blue quilt (2015-2020). READING ROOM Katrina Ellis | Looking for the Light “Looking for the Light” is a new series of drawings and multi-media work that explores connections within the natural world. Drawing from my emotional memory, I utilize patterns and elements of surrealism to create dreamlike works that address themes of longing, alienation, and mortality, while concurrently celebrating the wonder and magic found in the world around us. Katrina Ellis is a Rhode Island based artist and arts administrator. Her work has been included in exhibitions throughout the New England area and in New York City. Katrina Ellis, Looking for the Light AS220 MAIN GALLERY | 115 Empire St. Claire Munley | Quiet Transformations Quiet Transformations brings together a dynamic collection of paintings, prints, photography, and mixed media works. Created over several years of work in and around Providence, this body of work explores recurring motifs—vehicles and botanicals—reimagined across various mediums. These elements, which have been a source for inspiration for many years, first appeared in my film photography and old sketchbooks from high school and college.
