Remembering Clearwater Pond
Remembering Clearwater Pond Submitted by: Kate Peabody My great grandfather built a fishing camp in Maine in 1951, and our family loved it and visited it most summers — until we sold it this year. To help keep part of “my happy place,” I made mini “terrariums” with lake water, sand, moss and a water-loving plant sourced from Clearwater Pond, ME. The bottles were at the back of a bathroom cupboard, found while cleaning out – I assume old perfume bottles. The wax used to seal the lid was dripped from an old “emergency” candle found in a drawer in the dining room. So far the ecosystem seems to be managing itself healthily.
