I had no experience of building a website until I got involved with Newport Makerspace. My first task was to find out what tools were available to make a website – there are lots. As funds were tight, free options were of course the favourite and even then there are lots to choose from. An Exploration of sound, materialization and space. A collaboration of Spoken word, poetry, design and digital art. An audio engineer recorded binaural sounds of inner city Johannesburg. The tracks were played back to a poet who wrote was inspired to describe her feelings in the form of a poem called “Kospotong”. Woodshop members Tom Herbstein, Stefan Ross, Alaric Worrod and Matt Jaworski took delivery of Makespace’s new wood lathe, disc and belt sanders!
The packaging was quickly ripped open and now all three are in place in the workshop. Have a look for yourself at the unboxing video to see what a couple of hours of lifting, grunting, swearing and bolting parts together can achieve.
