Makers Local 256

Our yearly pumpkin carving happened on Tuesday this week, and a lot of cool and spooky Jack O’Lanterns were made! Thanks to those who came by, and I hope everyone has a fun, safe, and spooky Halloween!

August 6th was our second Repair Café at Makers Local 256! Had a bunch of people come over with various items needing to be fixed, like mixers, weedwackers, lights, and even retro game consoles! Thanks to everyone who came out, especially our volunteer repairers! If you missed this month’s Repair Café, our next one will be on Wednesday, September 3rd!

Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve had two successful classes! Brian taught a class on relief carving, and Ryen did a class on making heat-transfer vinyls for shirts and bags! More classes are on the way, so stay tuned!

Our yearly Nerd Rummage Sale went off without a hitch! We got a fantastic turnout with many different vendors, too! Thanks to everyone for helping put together this event, as well as our vendors and guests for attending! Here’s to another exciting Nerd Rummage Sale in 2026!

One of our members who built a life-size battle droid last year was at Fan Expo Cleveland this past weekend and got his droid signed by none other than Adam Savage!

Brian turned a nerf blaster into a functioning torch gun! Watch him incinerate some wooden objects in the video below!

Richard got the desktop CNC working! He put a new control board in the MaxNC and now it creates sawdust in compelling ways!

Makers Local 256 now has a functioning Iron Worker!

We drink an obscene amount of Mountain Dew here. With the new crusher we’re going to recoup some cash recycling the cans
