Lowell Makes

The Lowell Kinetic Sculpture Race got some well-deserved attention in the Lowell Sun, including a look at Stampede, one of this year’s kinetic sculptures from the Lowell Makes member Brendan Falvey.

The annual race brings together creativity, engineering, art, and a healthy willingness to get a little muddy, and it’s always fun to see the incredible machines and teams that make the event happen.

On May 6, Fergal Dennehy, the Lord Mayor of Cork, Ireland, visited Western Ave Studios and Lowell Makes alongside Denis Barrett, Cork City Council’s UNESCO Learning City Coordinator.

Mill City Skill Share 2026 was an incredible celebration of creativity, community, and hands-on learning!

On April 11th, we welcomed more than 300 participants for a full day packed with over 40 workshops, demonstrations, and drop-in experiences led by talented makers, artists, and craftspeople from across the community.
