On May 6, Fergal Dennehy, the Lord Mayor of Cork, Ireland, visited Western Ave Studios and Lowell Makes alongside Denis Barrett, Cork City Council’s UNESCO Learning City Coordinator.

Mill City Skill Share 2026 was an incredible celebration of creativity, community, and hands-on learning!

On April 11th, we welcomed more than 300 participants for a full day packed with over 40 workshops, demonstrations, and drop-in experiences led by talented makers, artists, and craftspeople from across the community. With the help of dozens of dedicated volunteers, Skill Share 2026 became our biggest and most vibrant event yet.

How a power outage made for the best event of the year.

Each year, Lowell Makes hosts a dinner for our dedicated Shop Captains and Co-captains to show our appreciation for all the incredible work they do. This year, we expanded the event to include our devoted volunteers—the folks who help make Lowell Makes such an amazing place to be.
