Please Donate to NIMBY’s Safety Upgrades Campaign

Here at NIMBY we’re always looking for ways to improve, but sometimes once you’ve identified the problem and found the best solution, you can get tripped up on implementing that solution. We’re trying to jump start two of those solutions: improvements to our wood working space and repairs to our forklifts! To that end, we’ve started a GoFundMe campaign!

We’re trying to raise $5000, but if we raise a little bit more than $5000, we sure wouldn’t be sad about it. We’d be extremely grateful. If…

“Blood” Filming by Faust Productions at NIMBY

This past March, NIMBY was pleased to once again host a fantastic, original dance video project “Triptych: Journey Through Cancer”. As the name implies, “Triptych” is a three part artistic exploration of cancer’s impact on the cycle of life and death. Part one “Dust” was filmed at NIMBY in 2015, and Executive Producer Jen Faust, director Micah Van Hove, and the production team have just released a behind the scenes look at the filming of part two “Blood”. In the video they discuss the creative…

2016 Steampunk Masquerade at NIMBY

NIMBY was proud to once again partner with our good friends in Airpusher to put on the 4th Annual Steampunk Masquerade. The night was full of art, music, dance, aerialists, fire spinners, live music and much much more. It was a wonderful night, and we’re so thankful for all of the hard work that so many people put in to making the event such a success. Check back soon, because this is only first batch of amazing photos by the talented Marisa KM.

We hope that everyone had as much fun as we did,…

Cairo Hackerspace: The Infinite Rollercoaster!

image

The Cairo Hackerspace is grateful for the many messages of concern and offers of help it has received in the past many months. Given the ongoing ups-and-downs of running our space in the current climate in Egypt, we appreciate all of your kind and motivating words.

In November 2015, we were working on an ambitious project to build a mobile makerspace which would visit schools around Egypt. The plan was to spread the idea of making and hacking to kids, who benefit the most from learning how to…
