One week in advance of Ma's day on May 12th, join us at NYC Resistor for a Jewelry-Making Tea Party. Outfits encouraged. Put on a big hat. Arrive in your finest jewelry.
This will be three-hours of creative jewelry assembly. All materials are provided: we HAVE the beads, clasps, vintage earrings/necklaces, shells, a tangle of crucifixes, and other rarities...
Stela, your host, is going to be your guide. Bring your love and imagination to this party. This is a day of pride and praise (and gratitude, always) – a dress rehearsal for the real thing. In especial, we honor Teyana this year because of her strength and beauty. Get ready to hear her sing.
Please note that the event starts at 1pm. The header image says 12 but I will have to start class at 1pm. Ending promptly at 4pm.
Your host: Stela Xhiku is a found artist, ITP ’23 grad, and jewelry maker.

Einladungstext:
"Hallo zusammen,
https://pad.freifunk-stuttgart.de/p/10yFFS-RouterMuseum
Join an interactive, arcade controller design workshop where participants will build wacky controllers for classic arcade games!Have you ever wanted to play a game but could never master the given controller?
The Scrapyard Challenge: Classic Arcade Controller Redesign Workshop is an interactive, arcade controller design workshop that will allow you to build and design novel controllers for classic arcade games such as Street Fighter, Ms.PacMan, Contra, Donkey Kong, Crash Bandicoot, Super Mario Bros, Mario Kart, Space Invaders, and more.
Participants are split into groups and can choose a classic video game and design a novel controller (the crazier the better!) to control all aspects of the game such as action buttons including jump, kick, punch, shoot, magic and directions such as up, down right, left. The goal is to make each game as interactive as possible (the crazier the better!) with full-body control systems built from scrap materials and junk.
The workshop uses custom built interface boards with USB encoders and RaspberryPi computers running RetroPie for game emulation.
No knowledge necessary to participate - open to anyone with a curious mind who wants to hack electronics!
NOTE: For this workshop participants are encouraged to bring "junk" to the workshop to hack on. This can include: Misc gadgets - basically any old kids toys that have moving parts are good - like a kids mini garage set or a plastic radio or plastic doll house, etc.. on the gadget side - things like electric can openers, fans, old record players, RC cars, etc…

Show off your lamp creations and novel lighting finds at this lamp "open mic" event and celebrate the best and brightest in our community.💡 Didn't Get Into The Lamp Show: A Lamp “Open Mic" is here to celebrate the creativity and passion of all lamp enthusiasts who may not have made it into the Head Hi exhibition, or maybe never even heard of that other Lamp Show. Whether you're a seasoned designer, a hobbyist with a love for lamps, or have one lamp you bought that you just need everyone to see, this event is your opportunity to showcase your unique creations and share your light with the world.
Since 2019 Head Hi invites artists, designers, collectors, craftspeople of all levels, to submit a lamp for the annual Lamp Show. With 300+ applications to be in the show for a limited number of spaces, that is a lot of lamps going unseen! We want to see all of the lamps at NYC Resistor. In the spirit of the original, “it can be a lamp you created, personalized or just a funky lamp that you found.”
🔦 How It Works: Participants are encouraged to bring their own lamps to the event to share with the audience. We will fill the space with lamps as they arrive, and each lamp will be displayed with a museum-style card providing the information the lamp bringer has provided. They will also be provided name-tags to allow other lamp enthusiasts to seek out the creator/collector of specific pieces. Sign up in advance via this form to have pre-printed display materials, or just drop in and we’ll make them on the fly.
✨ What to Expect: A diverse array of lamps on display, each with its own fascinating story • An inclusive atmosphere-- We welcome lamps & people of all shapes, sizes, backgrounds, and styles • Community Spirit-- This is a participatory art party where everyone's contribution is valued and celebrated.• Opportunities to connect with fellow lamp enthusiasts • Refreshments available for donations
🎟️ Admission is pay-what-you-wish [recommended $5]. Reserve your spot now and be a part of this enlightening experience!
