Hive13 Introductory Course - CNC Machining

Electronics Warden and board member Lorin Parker will lead an introductory discussion covering CNC machining concepts. Topics of discussion will include part design with CAD software, tool path generation with CAM software, and machine control via gcode.

This is not a certification course, but rather a high level overview of basic machine safety, and of the often complex software toolchain required to operate machine tools.

This course is open to Hive13 members and their guests.

In this class we will cover advanced fabrication and assembly (assuming all participants can weld and appropriately prepare metal). It will not focus on welding technique, as that will be covered in the "Welding good practice" portion of the first class.

Classes are limited to 5 people per class to insure that everyone has plenty of time to get hands on experience with each tool. Participants of all levels are welcome in each and every class (in fact it is highly recommended if your schedule allows for it). These classes do directly build on each other and as such priority will be given to participants that sign up for both.

Please note that if at least three people do not sign up for a class that day will be cancelled. If you can attended either days please note that when you purchase tickets.

Materials will be provided for this course. Please wear appropriate clothing for welding.
