About Parking on Sundays
I think the parking is free (but please check the meters) including right outside the Hackspace.
a large all day car park at the Station on Queens Road just 3 mins walk away
Bike it and use the station's excellent Cycle Hub below the tram bridge
Alternatively use Broadmarsh shopping centre car park.
We are right next to the station so train is the best way from Mansfield, Derby, Lincoln, Newark etc
We're 30 secs walk from the tram and buses too!
Andrew Harris will talk about the development and initial testing of an autonomous ocean sampler designed to help better understand the concentration of plastic particulates in the North Pacific Gyre. The sampler is capable of collecting and scanning samples of ocean water looking for particles as small as 100 microns in diameter. The ocean sampler has a few custom made mechanical parts, commercially available electronics, and leverages a suite of open source software called the Robot Operating System to manage onboard data processing and storage.

A workshop and hack meet for all levels of experience. The Drawdio kit is very hackable and a good kit for getting started with soldering.

For the Beginner -

We provide the full kit to make and keep and tools (soldering iron, solder and everything else you need to get started) as well as "step-by-step" instructions projected as Matt Little takes you through making the kit. Experienced hackers will be there to help you too. Soldering is great fun and you'll pick-up the basics in no time at all.

For the Progressor -

Get the kit or buy one of your own. Bring your own tools if you like or share with others. We'll provide printed instruction if you want to rush ahead. Why not hack the kit to make it better. Help beginners by sharing your experience of soldering.

For the Pro (Jedi Level) -

Share your knowledge and help others learn to solder. The PCB will be available so you don't have to get the kit, use your own components, hack the kit and make it awesome!

There are lots of ways to enjoy this hack session and options to suit every level of experience and every pocket too!

Hack at The Hackspace

Every Wednesday the Hackspace will be open for drop-in hacking. A non-exhaustive and non-committal list of topics include:
conlangs (spoken but made up languages, as opposed to natural) - examples include Esperanto, Klingon and Lojban
Etymology (how words related to each other, where they came from, how
they evolve)
Speech synthesis (computer generated speech)
Language Forensics (how language is used in law - whether in contracts, or in a courtroom, interpretation of spoken evidence etc)
The international phonetic alphabet (how we represent sounds in other languages)

If you've already learned how to power up your Arduino and write some basic “hello world” programs then you may want to learn some more fancy tricks. This class will teach you how to program your Arduino to read digital and analog inputs, as well as control digital and analog outputs. Don't know what that means? Then this is definitely the class for you! Learn how to program your Arduino to read input from a potentiometer (the magic behind a joystick) and a photo-resistor (the magic behind a night-light) to control light and sound.
Please be sure to bring your Arduino and your laptop. We will provide the rest!
